President Barack Obama’s selection of Honolulu as the site for the annual APEC Leaders Meeting in November 2011, APEC 2011, will provide a big economic boost and offer business opportunities for businesses throughout Hawaii.
APEC, or Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation is a forum for 21 Pacific Rim countries that seeks to promote free trade and economic cooperation throughout the Asia-Pacific region. APEC works to reduce tariffs and other trade barriers across the Asia-Pacific region, creating efficient domestic economies and dramatically increasing exports.
The APEC 2011 Hawaii Host Committee, which includes executives and leaders from Hawaii’s business, visitor industry, educational and community sectors, has been working to support the APEC 2011 USA efforts as well as capitalizing on the opportunities for strengthening our economy that a high-profile event of this magnitude can bring. This includes opportunities to generate exposure of Hawaii’s products and services to the APEC participants in November.
